Fawn had his face buried against John's shoulder.

"Love you," was his muffled reply.

John kissed his hair where he could reach and held him carefully.

"You remarkable thing," he said softly. "I'm so lucky to have you."

"No, me. I am lucky," Fawn insisted, starting to purr. "I am full of fortune since finding you."

John looked at him then, holding his face still so he could focus in the dim carpark light.

"I love you, Fawn," he said, as if it were a heavy confession and not something he'd said dozens of times already.

"I know, and I love you," Fawn said, confused, but smiling before playfully nipping John's thumb. "I have never loved before. It's nice. It makes my stomach buzz like it's full of wasps."

"That's not a bad way of describing it," John smiled. "I've been in love plenty. It's my favourite thing>"

"Where are all your other loves? Can I meet them?" Fawn asked.

John grew quiet for a long moment.

"No," he said sadly. "Most of them are dead."

"Oh," Fawn said softly. "I am sorry," he added gently, settling against John's chest and holding the man tightly.

John held him loosely, basking in the sweet comfort of his weight. He smelled so good and everything about him made his cynicism slip away. Like this, John could believe for a bit that the world was good. Safe. That he was free.

"We go home now. I'll put you to bed," Fawn decided. "Tomorrow I will make us breakfast."

"Alright, love,"he replied. It was easy to smile at the very idea of that. It was so bloody normal.

"I will make the thin cakes on the stove," Fawn decided. "And you can tell me what the news is, and we can watch telly."

For such a feral little thing, he'd taken to being housetrained remarkably well.

"I've got to go out for a bit tomorrow," he said. "I just need to see a guy. But a morning in with you sounds like bliss," he smiled. John struggled to get himself put back together, and once he got his cock contained by his fly, he gave up on the rest.

"Let me get in the driver's seat," he chuckled.

Fawn dressed, but then just sprawled out on the backseat.

"Will you be out long?" he asked.

"I'm not sure, but I'll try not to be," he said, lighting up and then pulling into traffic.

"I get sad when you go," Fawn admitted. "Sometimes I sit in the window and worry you will not come back."

"Love, I will always come home to you," John said warmly. "And you don't have to stay in the flat. You can go exploring. Meet your friends..."

"I know, but I like being with you best," Fawn explained.

[petty_dabbler]

"Home, with you, is my preference, too. But the world don't stop, Fawn, and there's work to be done," he said before eexhaling a cloud out the open window.

"The world is rude," the fae pouted.

"That it is, love," he agreed and he navigated the way home.

Fawn dozed off on the backseat, waking only when they got home.

"Our new home will be built soon," he said, stretching lazily. "I am excited to show you when it is done."

"I'm looking forward to it," he said.

He slid into sa spot down the street from his flat, but only a short walk.

"Come on. Bed's calling."

Fawn followed, dancing a little as they walked.

"Tonight was joyus. We should go to more parties, don't you think?"
