John retrieved his cards from the trunk and returned to the table. The
paper cards were wrapped in a cloth, but there was a wooden box as well. He
opened the lid to reveal the cards. Each was a slice of ivory, hand painted
by some Italian during the Renaissance. John offered them to Fawn.
"Be gentle, and they'll be good to you," he smiled.
