Alwyn - After Pride

John had picked up fish and chips and was keeping them warm in the oven. He'd taken a shower and shaved and was settled in with a beer and an old sci fi show he'd liked when he was a lad.

The whole time he went through the motions, John's stomach was a knot. He didn't like the idea of Alwyn in a crowd alone. A loud crowd. He'd almost hoped to find the man had beaten him home...but no.

He was half dozing when he heard the door and perked right up.

"You do?" Alwyn asked.

"I do," he nodded. "I like it. New foods. New places. New films. I like seeing you discover things."

"Then we'll go," Alwyn said. "I mean, if you'd really like to."

John smiled and pulled Alwyn close.

"Something to look forward to, hmm?"

Alwyn nodded a little, but seemed contemplative, his face expressing little as his mind zoomed on behind his eyes.

John was quiet and the telly played on. He could eel Alwyn never quite relax. Finally, he turned his head to look at him.

"What's on your mind, love?" John asked softly.

"Everything," was Alwyn's simple reply. "I don't want to talk about it anymore, if that's okay."

"I won't make you," he assured him, going quiet again. John was quite content to be close and quiet.
